What Bournemouth books

What do removal companies in Bournemouth handle?

House removals in Bournemouth

A semi off Maxwell Road, a terrace in Boscombe, a family home in Talbot Woods or Kinson. Each is priced as house removals on the same three things: how much you own, how easy the access is and how far it's going.

Flat removals on the East and West Cliff

In the 2021 Census, about half of households in the old Bournemouth borough lived in flats or maisonettes — against 37% across BCP as a whole. Many sit in Victorian villas split into flats. For flat removals, put the floor number and whether there's a lift on the form, so the quote allows for the carry.

Man with a van in Bournemouth

Not a full house? A bedsit near Bournemouth University's Lansdowne buildings, a wardrobe going from Westbourne to Southbourne, or a load of boxes into a Winton flat is man and van work. Choose the smallest move size on the form and list the items. Teams covering BH quote by the hour or for the job.

Piano removals

An upright up two flights in a converted villa is a different job from a grand on the ground floor in Canford Cliffs. Say which type it is and where it stands. Firms offering piano removals can then bring the right trolley, straps and crew size.

Removals and storage

Selling a Southbourne flat before the new place in Christchurch is ready? Ask for removals and storage on the same quote, so the collection, the storage weeks and the final delivery are priced together.

The local reality

How does parking work for a Bournemouth move?

BCP Council runs a separate parking scheme for each of its three towns. Which one applies depends on the address.

  • Bournemouth area: a contractors' parking dispensation lets a commercial vehicle park in a restricted spot for a job. It costs £22 a day, £45 a week or £87 for two weeks per vehicle. Apply online at least 3 days before. It lasts two weeks at most and the permit is virtual.
  • Poole area: a daily waiver for tradespeople costs £15 per vehicle, issued by phone. It covers yellow lines, resident bays, limited waiting and pay-and-display bays — but not loading bays, bus stops, disabled bays or yellow lines with a loading ban.
  • Christchurch area: a tradesmen's dispensation costs £15 for the first day and £12 for each day after. Apply at least 5 working days before.

None of the three pages names removals, and we didn't find a BCP page for bay suspensions. Ask each removal company whether they apply for the permit or expect you to. Prices as of November 2026.

Removals in Boscombe, Southbourne, Poole and around Bournemouth

  • Town centre and East Cliff (BH1), West Cliff (BH2) — Springbourne is BH1 too.
  • Talbot Woods (BH3) and Westbourne (BH4) — north and west of the centre.
  • Boscombe and Pokesdown (BH5), Southbourne and Tuckton (BH6) — the eastern side, towards Christchurch.
  • Littledown (BH7), Winton, Moordown and Charminster (BH9), Kinson and Ensbury Park (BH10) — the inland suburbs.
  • Poole (BH12 to BH17) and Broadstone (BH18) — Upper Parkstone is BH14. The Poole parking waiver applies.
  • Christchurch and Highcliffe (BH23) — the Christchurch dispensation applies.

All of these are BCP Council. A few districts — parts of BH13, BH15, BH16, BH18 and BH23 — run over into Dorset Council, and BH23 into the New Forest too, so the BCP permits won't apply there. Give both postcodes for a quote that covers the whole journey. For a price range first, try our removal costs calculator.

The money side

How much a Bournemouth move costs

Postcode is close to irrelevant to a removal quote. Volume, distance and access do almost all the work. Published ranges by property size live in the removal costs guide, and the cost calculator estimates your own move without waiting for a callback.

Good to know

Moving in Bournemouth: FAQs

How do I arrange parking for a removal van in Bournemouth?

BCP Council sells a contractors' parking dispensation for the Bournemouth area. It lets a commercial vehicle park in a restricted spot while it works. It costs £22 a day, £45 a week or £87 for two weeks per vehicle, as of November 2026. Apply online at least 3 days ahead. The page doesn't mention removals by name, so ask your removal company who applies.

Are the parking rules different in Poole and Christchurch?

Yes. BCP still runs three schemes. In the Poole area, tradespeople can phone for a daily waiver at £15 per vehicle. In Christchurch, a tradesmen's dispensation costs £15 for the first day and £12 after that, with 5 working days' notice. Prices as of November 2026.

Is there a clean air zone charge in Bournemouth?

No. Bournemouth, Christchurch and Poole are not on the government's list of clean air zones, so no emissions charge belongs on your quote.

Is Bournemouth mostly flats?

Close to half of it. In the 2021 Census, about 49% of households in the former Bournemouth borough lived in flats or maisonettes, against 37% across BCP as a whole. Many are in converted Victorian villas on the East and West Cliff.

Can I book a man with a van in Bournemouth through the same form?

Yes. Pick the smaller move size and say what's going. A bedsit in Boscombe, a sofa to Southbourne or a few boxes to a Winton flat can all go to an hourly man and van team.

Do removal companies covering Bournemouth also cover Poole and Christchurch?

Yes. Bournemouth is BH1 to BH11, Poole BH12 to BH17 and Christchurch BH23. Give both postcodes and each quote covers the whole journey.
