What Islington books
What do removal companies in Islington handle?
House removals in Georgian and Victorian terraces
Barnsbury and Canonbury are late-Georgian and early-Victorian terraces. Many have a front basement behind railings and steps up to the door. Mention both on the form, because steps add carrying time to house removals and can change the crew size.
Flats and conversions
Plenty of Islington houses are now split into flats, from the basement to the top floor. For flat removals, give the floor, the stair width if you know it, and whether the entrance is down the area steps.
Man with a van in Islington
A bedsit in Archway, a sofa from Upper Street to Holloway, a student room near Highbury Corner. Jobs that size suit an hourly man and van booking. Pick it on the form, and say whether you'll help carry or need two people.
Office removals in Clerkenwell and Finsbury
Studios and offices in EC1 sit inside the Congestion Charge zone, so ask whether £18 a day is in the price. For office removals, say if the move must happen after hours. A business suspension starts at £320 for day one, as of November 2026.

The local reality
How do you suspend a parking bay for an Islington move?
Apply online to Islington Council, upload the exact spaces you need (a map screenshot helps), and only suspend what the van needs. Each space is five metres.
- Apply at least 14 days ahead, or 10 days for pay-by-phone bays.
- Residents pay £164.80 on day one for as many spaces as you need, then £62.25 per space on day two and £67.50 per space from day three. Sundays and bank holidays aren't charged after day one.
- Late applications may carry an extra £100 admin fee, at the officer's discretion, or be refused.
- Yellow lines can't be suspended. Red routes belong to TfL, not the council.
Fees as of November 2026; they change each April.

What changes on Arsenal match days?
Zones E, F, G, H, J, L, N, Q and V get extra controls for Arsenal men's and women's home games and big events at the Emirates. On weekdays that is 6.30pm to 8.30pm in most zones. Saturdays run 1.30pm to 4.30pm in most zones, Sundays and bank holidays noon to 4.30pm. Signs go up to three days before.
Most other Islington zones run 8.30am to 6.30pm on weekdays. If you're near Drayton Park or Highbury, check the fixtures before you fix the date.

Local knowledge
Which Islington postcodes do removal companies cover?
- N1 — Angel, Barnsbury, Canonbury, Pentonville. N1 also covers parts of Hackney and Camden, such as Hoxton and King's Cross.
- N5 — Highbury, shared with Hackney.
- N7 — Holloway, with part of Tufnell Park in Camden.
- N19 — Upper Holloway and Archway, shared with Camden.
- N4 — Finsbury Park, split between Islington, Haringey and Hackney.
- EC1 — Clerkenwell, Finsbury and St Luke's, shared with Camden, Hackney and the City.
A postcode doesn't settle which council runs your street. Check before you apply for a bay. The Congestion Charge (£18 a day) covers Clerkenwell and Finsbury in the south. If you're near Angel or Old Street, check TfL's zone map for your exact street. The whole borough is in the ULEZ, so a non-compliant van pays £12.50 a day.
