Removal companies across North London
Moving house in North London? It's really two kinds of move. In Camden and Haringey it's usually a flat, often in a converted house with a shared stair. Out in Barnet and Enfield it's more often a house — semis in Barnet, terraces in Enfield. Compare removal companies across the N, NW and EN postcodes and say which one you are.
Covering N, NW and EN postcodes — Camden to Enfield, Brent to Tottenham
Two kinds of move
Flats in the inner boroughs, houses further out
The split shows up clearly in the 2021 Census. In Camden, 86.6% of households live in flats, and over a quarter are in converted houses. In Enfield the figure is 38.8%, with terraces and semis the commonest houses.
Barnet sits in between at 47.4% flats, with semis its most common house type. Brent is 56.6% flats, and Haringey 61%.

Converted flats in Haringey and Camden
Muswell Hill was laid out as an Edwardian suburb, and Haringey's own appraisal notes that many of its houses have since been divided into flats. Crouch End tells a similar story with its Victorian houses. Often that means a shared front door, a narrow stair and no lift.
That's a flat removal rather than a house move, and the stairs drive the time. Camden's appraisal of Hampstead describes a complex of narrow streets and steps, so check how close a van can get before quote day.
Family houses in Barnet and Enfield
Further out, houses outnumber flats, and the job is more often a standard house removal. EN1 and EN3 are Enfield; EN2 is mostly Enfield, with a Hertfordshire edge. EN4 splits between Barnet and Enfield, and EN5 is High Barnet. From EN6 (Potters Bar) the postcodes run into Hertfordshire and Essex, outside London.
What you're moving
What do removal companies covering North London quote for?
House removals from Finchley to Enfield
A house in Finchley (N3), Southgate (N14) or Edmonton (N9) is priced on three things: how much you own, how far it goes and how close the van can park. Put the number of bedrooms on the form and list anything awkward: a gym rack, a garden shed to dismantle, or a piano, which may need a piano removal specialist.
Office and shop moves
Moving a practice in Hendon or a studio in Camden Town? Ask for office removals quotes and say if the work has to happen at a weekend. If the building fronts a red route, stopping is controlled by TfL, not by the borough.
Removals and storage in North London
Selling in Muswell Hill before your Barnet purchase completes? Ask for storage on the same quote. Say roughly how many weeks, and whether you'll need anything back before the final delivery.
Man with a van in North London
A room in a Tottenham house share, or one sofa from Wood Green to Crouch End, rarely needs a full crew. A man and van booked by the hour suits it better. For N9 and N18, see our man and van Edmonton page.
Which postcodes and councils make up North London?
- Camden — NW1 Camden Town, NW3 Hampstead and Belsize Park, NW5 Kentish Town, NW6 West Hampstead. NW6 also takes in parts of Brent and Westminster.
- Haringey — N8 Crouch End and Hornsey, N17 Tottenham, N22 Wood Green. N10 Muswell Hill reaches into Barnet, and N6 Highgate crosses into Camden, Barnet and Islington.
- Barnet — N3 Finchley, N12 North Finchley, NW4 Hendon, NW7 Mill Hill, NW11 Golders Green, EN5 High Barnet.
- Enfield — N9 Edmonton, N13 Palmers Green, N21 Winchmore Hill, and EN1 to EN3 from Enfield Town to Enfield Lock. N14 Southgate is shared with Barnet.
- Brent — NW10 Willesden and Harlesden. NW2 Cricklewood and NW9 Kingsbury both cross into Barnet, and NW9 into Harrow too.
Because so many districts cross a borough line, check which council your street is in before you apply for a bay. For N1, N7 and N19, see our Islington page, and the HA postcodes of north-west London on Harrow.
Before you book
Which council suspends the bay — and how far ahead?
Each borough runs its own suspensions, with its own notice period and fees. Find your council first, then apply as soon as your date is firm.
- Camden — removals are named. Book 17 days or more ahead (the minimum is 3 days, with a short-notice charge). A £66.66 admin fee, then £79.63 per space for a one-day suspension.
- Haringey — removals are named. Give 2 weeks' notice. £80 per space per day plus £280 admin per road, and the suspension only applies during the bay's controlled hours.
- Brent — "home removals" are named. Give 7 working days' notice. £67 per bay per day if you apply 14 days or more ahead, plus £133 if you apply later.
- Barnet — removals are named. About 7 days' notice, £69.63 per 5m bay per day and a £171.39 admin fee. We couldn't load the council's page to confirm them, so check with Barnet before you book.
- Enfield — the council lists a £145 admin fee, £54 per suspension board and £106 if an enforcement officer is needed. We couldn't load the page to read the daily bay charge or confirm these figures, so ask Enfield for the full price before you book.
Fees as of October 2026; councils review them each April. Moving in Islington or the HA postcodes? See removal companies in Islington and Harrow for those boroughs' rules.

Stadium days and charges in North London
Tottenham Hotspur Stadium changes the parking in N17. For events with more than 10,000 people, seven controlled zones around it run extra hours: weekday evenings from 5pm to 8.30pm, and noon to 8pm at weekends and on bank holidays.
Worcester Avenue closes from 8am on event days, Park Lane three hours before, and the High Road closes in phases. A move near the stadium belongs on a non-event day.

Wembley and the Emirates bring their own match-day zones, covered on the Harrow and Islington pages.
ULEZ, yes; the Congestion Charge, rarely
The ULEZ covers all of London, so a non-compliant van pays £12.50 a day whether it's in Kentish Town or Enfield Town. If the quote doesn't say whether the van is compliant, ask.
The Congestion Charge (£18 a day) is a different story. It covers central London only, so a move from Finchley to Enfield never touches it. If either address is close to King's Cross or Euston, check it on TfL's zone map before you book.

Moving in North London: FAQs
How much does a parking suspension cost in North London?
It depends on the borough, as each one sets its own fees. One space for one day comes to about £146.29 in Camden and £360 in Haringey once the admin charge is added; Brent charges £67 a bay per day if you apply 14 days or more ahead (October 2026).
Do Tottenham Hotspur match days affect moving house in N17?
Yes, near the stadium. On event days for crowds over 10,000, seven controlled zones around it run extra restrictions, and Worcester Avenue and Park Lane close for hours beforehand. Look up the stadium event calendar before you pick a date.
Do removal vans pay ULEZ or the Congestion Charge in North London?
ULEZ, only if the van is non-compliant — £12.50 a day anywhere in London, including EN1 to EN5. The Congestion Charge (£18 a day) only covers central London, so it rarely applies to N, NW or EN addresses. If one end of the move is near King's Cross or Euston, check the address on TfL's map.
How much do removals in North London cost?
Price ranges start at £600–£880 for a 2-bed moving locally and £870–£1,300 for a 3-bed, based on published data from major UK comparison platforms (2025–26). On top of that, budget for a bay suspension if your street has permit bays, and allow extra time for stairs in a converted flat.
Which council covers West Hampstead, Muswell Hill or Southgate?
West Hampstead (NW6) is in Camden, though NW6 also takes in parts of Brent and Westminster. Muswell Hill (N10) is in Haringey, with Barnet across part of the postcode. Southgate (N14) is split between Enfield and Barnet. Check your street's council before you apply for a bay suspension.
Is moving out of a converted flat in Crouch End or Muswell Hill harder?
It can be, because the stairs are shared and can be narrow. Many Victorian and Edwardian houses there were split into flats, so measure the turns and tell firms the floor before they quote.
