At peak travel times — Easter, the May half term, the summer holidays and the week before Christmas — Kent runs Operation Brock. A contraflow runs on the M20 between junctions 8 and 9, just east of Maidstone.
In summer 2026 it was in place from 14 July to 24 August. A move from Maidstone toward Ashford, Folkestone or Dover in those weeks runs slower, and hourly costs follow. A move west toward the M25 doesn't use that stretch.
